Japanese floor pillows for fancy sitting
Japanese floor pillows, also known as zabutons can create nice and comfortable seating area. Use them around a small table or when you want to unwind and read your favorite magazine.
At origins these pillows were square and a few inches high but now they are available in lots of sizes and prints. They were initially used for meditation along with a zafu, a round cushion that was placed on the zabuton.
If you would like a more Japanese vibe, look for pillows that have a traditional cover otherwise a lightly colored one will be enough.
When you don't use the pillows, just tuck them in a corner or place them in front of the bed so they can get more exposure.
The filling
The original filling used in Japan is 90% cotton batting and 10% spun polyester. This makes the pillow less allergenic and much more supportive for your back and legs.
The decor
Japanese floor pillows can make a good impression but they don't look good in all rooms. If the decor is somewhat traditional using floor cushions will just seem out of place. In case you decide to but more than one choose different matching colors like black and red for a contrast.
